I received this message in my email today from Joan of Busy Body Book about a blogging event happening very soon called “Blogging for Blood Cancer”. Please take a moment to read this and offer to help in any way you can, even if its just blogging about it or donating some ad space on your website. If you have products or services you can donate, that would be awesome.
Dear April,
I received the letter below yesterday from Lois Whittaker that I would like to pass along to you knowing that as mothers we all share in each others goals and as bloggers we have tremendous reach. Collectively we reach thousands of concerned parents every day with information vital to our every day lives.
Blood cancers afflict every age group. Leukemia and Lymphoma has affected my own family and friends and so I am all too familiar with the battle for survival and how it impacts loved ones. Please take a moment to read Lois’ letter and, in any way you can, pass along her information and request for help.
Best wishes,
Joan

“My name is Lois Whittaker. I am writing today to ask you to join me in bettering our community and our world. As a fellow businessperson, you know that it is always wise to protect and invest in the future of your business. Moreover, as a human being, you recognize that our children are the future of our world. From the youngest to the oldest, each life has value, and a society can often be measured by its commitment to preserving and enriching each and every life.
Toward this effort, we are planning a huge blog event the week of August 11, 2008 called “Blogging for Blood Cancer.” The event’s goal is to raise awareness and funds to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by enlisting the assistance of the blog community to spread the word.
We are looking for companies like yours to donate items for the event to be used as giveaways, and incentives during the weeklong event. Even seconds and discontinued items would be greatly appreciated. Small items/samples/promotional items that you would like to donate for goodie bags to participants are an option too. Your company would receive appropriate advertising coinciding with your item’s usage, as well as ad space and a corresponding highlight on my popular parenting blog, Goodies for Mom as well as the Friends of Heroes team blog during the week of the event. All donations are tax deductible. After the event, we will e-mail you the winner’s mailing information so that you can ship the prizes directly to them. If you are interested, please e-mail me a message letting us know what you would like to donate along with an estimated value for tax receipt purposes no later than August 8, 2008 to:
Lois@goodiesformom.com
Some other options for helping this worthwhile cause are blogging on your company blog about the event, creating an affiliate team for your local walk, donating website ad space on your website, or making a tax-deductible donation.
Please feel free to call me at 609-844-1061 if you have any questions or would like further information. Thank you.
